THE WALKING TREASURES
Every day I go out for a walk. To me walking, preferably in nature, is like a pilgrimage. Ready and open to find new ways and answers, a way of going within, where nature seems to be the wisest teacher I have ever met, I find beautiful little things, that seem to light up the way.
Time has always fascinated me. The passing of it, the remains of it, the timelessness of it in art, film and images. For this project I look for those intimate, passing moments that carve deeply into the timelapse of a lifetime. Those moments don't have to be the supposed 'life- events', but can just as well be the hand of a past lover closing the door behind you, the soothing light of that dreamy afternoon in Paris or the discovery of tears in your father's eyes.
In the portraits I make I try to capture something real about someone, tender and close. Two of them were part of the project and photo exhibition TAKE ME TO THE SEA at Stedelijk Museum Breda, 2017/2018, about refugees and their journey.
